A Quick Game Review Of Persona 5 Strikers

Reviews

Persona 5: Strikers is a game that plays more like a sequel to P5 rather than a spin-off. In fact, the game takes place directly after Persona 5’s ending. As for gameplay review, think of Hyrule Warriors but more stylish and lean more to the Shin Megami Tensei series. It’s the fifth installment to the Persona franchise which acts as the lighter spin-off to the main Shin Megami Tensei series. Each persona title has its unique theme, and characters that appeal to a variety of audiences. And right off the bat, P5 is the widely accepted title compared to its predecessors.

Persona 5 has been one of the best J-RPGs for a very long time. It is also one of the coolest games ever made thanks to its cel-shaded art style along with jazzy vibes. Thanks also to its uniqueness, it spawned a massive fanbase both in Japan and overseas. This game is probably one of the most widely accepted Atlus x SMT titles in the world.

Let’s look into Persona 5, and how Atlus managed to turn their latest Persona game into a massive hit. It’s like Dynasty Warriors but Persona 5. You get to fight against large mobs of weak enemies, and powerful bosses within the metaverse and the real world. But, unlike Dynasty Warriors, this one has a Shin Megami Tensei flare to it.

As far as the story goes, the Phantom Thieves are back and they’re on a summer vacation around Japan for a month. But, as usual, they have to save people from the shadows of the metaverse. It’s a good thing this is just a cakewalk for Joker and his buddies. And, just like in the original game, Futaba is still the best waifu.

A More Simplified Persona 5 Game

Plenty of features are back in the game with a few exceptions. First and foremost, Confidant is completely gone from the game, making it quite a letdown for the fans of P5. But, before you stop reading, they managed to make up for that by making the calendar system easier to manage. While it may not be based on a year, the month-long calendar is enough to keep you going for hours.

As an alternative to Confidant, you now use Bond Points. Bond Points are earned through bonding with your friends. That includes shopping in malls, going to the beach, having a barbecue or just talking to each other. However, while the group activities are fun, they’re not as personal as P5 though.

Diving Into The World of P5 Strikers

Though people call P5 Strikers a spin-off. The devs pointed out a few things that make it more like a sequel. First of all, it’s confirmed that what you see in Strikers is all canon. Second, Ann is hot as usual. While it may not follow the Royal edition, it’s still something to get into.

This is especially true when things are about to go down after the 10th hour into the game.

Also, while they may present this as a good game for both newcomers and P5 fans, there are just too many references that newcomers won’t get. If you’re planning to dive into P5 Strikes, then consider playing Persona 5 first. But if turn-based RPG isn’t your thing, then you can just hop into Strikers for the gameplay.

All in all, it’s definitely a must-buy though. If you love J-RPGs, this is something that should be on your top list this 2021. While it’s not required to play P5 before Strikers, I highly recommend you do so. It’s one of the best action games you can play on major consoles.
