The Comedic LEGO Version of the Star Wars Story
First, let’s talk about the game’s character design and story. The movie franchise it is based on is simply one of the most epic stories ever told in the history of the galaxy. Moreover, it has one of the most captivating and intriguing characters of all time. As long as the game devs could give justice to what the characters and the story are all about, they should be good to go.
But they didn’t just lazily settle with that. They added a whole lot of flavor to it with their LEGO version of comedy and fun. Moreover, this game is a tribute to the Star Wars legacy, but it also doesn’t take itself too seriously. Even with its huge content and storyline, the game devs were still able to fill it with a sufficient amount of puns, jokes, and gags. Yes, not all of it was funny, but most of it was very comedic in a classic LEGO way. That’s why the younger audience is sure to love it. However, adult gamers would also have a lot of fun as they consume the game’s content and storytelling.
A Vast Intergalactic Gameplay with A World of Content to Indulge On
The first thing that comes to mind when describing the content and gameplay experience is VAST. That’s because it has open-world planets, and not just two or three, but 24 of them. Many of these planets even have two or three playable locations. Each of these planets has its own unique theme and vivid landscape settings that are all very interesting yet still stays true to what the movie has shown us. Aside from the planets, there are also several playable locations such as the Starkiller Base, Jabba’s Palace, Death Star, and Death Star II that you can explore in The Force Awakens, plus other featured locations such as Petranki Arena on Geonosis, Trade Federation Battleship, and Mos Eisley Cantina.
You might think that with the vastness of this Star Wars universe, the number of locations might be way too much for gamers to consume. However, the game devs somehow managed to keep everything very interesting. Moreover, there’s a lot of content that you can play within each of these locations. For instance, there are mini-games and sidequests that are very enjoyable. So it’s quite easy to see yourself getting lost or distracted by all the little things as you wander across the planets. Depending on how you play and consume game content, you might take some time getting sidetracked away from the main story. Enter the waypoint mechanic, which shows you where you should go in order to progress in the game. So, if you want to go back to the main storyline after having a quick casual mini-game fun, you may do so right away.
The game also has several characters that you can play with. Well, “several” is too much of an understatement because there are 400 characters that you can play with. That is how big this game is and it is just fitting because as stated above, you have so much content spread across the planets.

Now, to the main gameplay. The core LEGO Star Wars gameplay is still at play here. You explore the world in search of collectibles, hit stuff to make it explode into a million lego pieces, build stuff, shoot stuff, and hack enemies with a lightsaber. However, there are also some notable features that the game devs have modified or added to the game. For example, shooting is now in an up-close third-person view like some popular shooter games. There’s also a cover mechanic where you can move from cover to cover simply by pressing a button. The melee gameplay is also very fun with a lot of cool combos. If you’re already familiar with previous LEGO Star Wars games, you’ll feel at home with this gameplay but also find that it has a lot of cool stuff.
The Perfect LEGO Star Wars World Presentation
As for the visuals, well it is just perfect for a LEGO Star Wars world. This game shows how a fake world could look super real. For instance, the graphics look hyper-realistic even though this world is made out of plastic. This LEGO world also has the right blend of the classic LEGO brick look and a mix of smoothened-out world landscapes. It has exactly the same graphics that you would see in a LEGO movie. You’d wonder whether you are watching an animated LEGO movie or playing a game. That just shows you how good the graphics in this game is. Even though this game was first developed five years ago, the graphics they used scream next-gen.
The Verdict of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Review
Well, given all the things mentioned above, it’s easy to see that this game can quickly become a big hit for young gamers and even adult gamers looking to entertain the younger folks. It has just the right amount of fun comedic storytelling. Unlike some games that attempt to crack a joke, this one isn’t annoying at all. If you’re looking for good fun that kids would enjoy, then this game is the answer. In addition, it has an ambitious game content just by the sheer immenseness of it. Still, the game developers managed to deliver on most of it. The graphics were great to the point that it seems like you are watching a LEGO movie and playing it at the same time. TT Games is definitely at the top of their game with this. All in all, this game is a 9 out of 10.
