Last February, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla introduced the River Raid DLC to the game, as part of a free update. It introduces open maps that feature several locations for players to raid. The new maps will not be part of the usual England and Norway map that players have been paying. This means the DLC won’t be part of the main game and can only be accessible by talking to Vagn in your settlement.
Despite not being part of the main game, it’s still worth doing the River Raid since this is where you can get Foreign Supplies. It’s a resource that you need to upgrade a new building in your settlement. The Foreign Supplies can also be used for purchasing new cosmetic items. But what do you need to ensure that you’ll do well during the raid? This article will help you by providing some tips and tricks to ensure a successful raid.
Remember to Hire A Full Crew
Before you go on a raid, you have to make sure that you hire a full crew first. You need to have enough Jomsvikings during your raid if you want to survive long during your loot. You will face many enemies along the way and no matter how strong your character is, you will need help. Having more crew also ensures you get to loot more locations along the river.
As you survive longer, you also get to continue pushing forward and looting more locations. Don’t forget to equip them as well, as your Jomsvikings are useless without any equipment.
Make Sure To Kill All Enemies First
When you start your raid, don’t go straight to picking up the loot. Your mercenaries might start doing that, but you should not follow them. The first thing you need to do is to kill all the enemies first. Make sure they are all wiped out before going for the loot. By doing this, you not only avoid getting ambushed by enemy soldiers, but you also lessen the injuries or casualties your crew will get.
Your crew will be a big help in taking down many challenging enemies in this raid. But they will also need your help, so make sure that you kill all enemies first before going after the loot on the location. This way, there are fewer injuries and casualties on your warriors.
Don’t Forget to Upgrade Your Jomsvikings Hall & Longboat
The Jomsvikings Hall is where you will hire the warriors you will use for the raid. This building can be upgraded and it should be a priority when you have enough resources to do so. When you upgrade the building, you can hire stronger and better warriors, which will be very helpful in future raids. River Raid is a replayable DLC, which means you can go back to it after a short while.
But keep in mind, the map has dynamic elements that change whenever you raid it again. It’s like they will remember your last raid so there will likely be more enemy soldiers waiting the next time around. So, upgrading your Jomsvikings Hall is important. The longboat is another thing that you should upgrade as doing so will increase its storage capacity. By doing so, you’ll be able to return from a raid with more loot and resources.
Always Rest Your Crew After Every Raid
It’s unavoidable to have injured warriors after a raid. And to make sure that they can recover, you have to switch them out with healthy Jomsvikings and give them a break. Doing so will allow them to regain strength and be raring to go next time. It’s also not advisable to bring injured warriors to raids since they’re much weaker.
Not only will you be at a disadvantage with weaker Jomsvikings during the raid, but the injured might even get killed. This puts you further at a disadvantage, which is why you have to make sure that you give injured warriors time to heal.
