Titanfall 2: Gaining More Traction After Steam Release

News

After almost four years since its initial launch, the highly acclaimed Titanfall 2 is finally making steamas the epic FPS game is now available on Steam (pun intended). It’s hard to believe that one of the most sought out games from a top developer – Respawn, has been kept locked inside Origin for such a long time. But here we are!

Now that the cat is out of the bag, the game is finally gaining traction in the multiplayer scene. Proving once again that you can never keep a good game down, or in this case, locked from the gaming community.

The Fall and Rise of Titanfall 2

The journey of Titanfall 2 is somehow related to its title. This is because the game was meant to be a titan in terms of gameplay. But due to poor decision-making, it unfortunately fell into obscurity.

Now that statement may sound like another pun, but this is the inconvenient truth on the PC side of the game. Aside from launching a week after Battlefield 1 and a week before Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Titanfall 2 has been locked in Origin. This move was uncalled for, and it led to the game’s delayed success on PC.

In comparison, the player base of Origin from that of Steam is undoubtedly lower. This is because Steam provides better deals, better clients, and an in-game overlay. Steam also comes with better download speeds compared to Origin.

To be fair, Origin also has a few advantages on its own. This includes better customer service, fair refund policies, and better support. All that comes with a selection of its most iconic games that are just under two dollars.

Nevertheless, the majority of gamers still prefer Steam. So fast forward to June 2020, the acclaimed Titanfall 2 finally made its way to the Steam platform. As expected, the game became one of the top sellers and is slowly gaining traction again in the multiplayer scene.

Learning From Titanfall

For those who are not yet familiar with the game, Titanfall 2 is an FPS game developed by Respawn Entertainment. Set in an alternate universe, it follows the exploits of Jack Cooper, a rifleman from the Frontier Militia. Using his mentor’s Titan BT-7274, the main protagonist embarks on a quest to stop the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation (IMC) from launching a superweapon that is threatening to destroy the Militia planet, Harmony.

Titanfall 2 did not only come with an exciting single-player campaign but a solid multiplayer as well. This awesome combination led to the overwhelming acclaim and accolades from both critics and players.

Titanfall 2 is like Call of Duty (COD) on steroids. The game combines fast-paced battle mechanics common to AAA FPS games. It also comes with the explosive action seen on mecha-style, exoskeleton-based Japanese games.

The game’s development is based on both feedback and analytical research from gaming journalists and players from the first installment. The game managed to please both critics and gamers. It scored an impressive 86/100 Metascore from critics and 8.3/10 from players.
