News

By order of the Peaky Blinders, the critically acclaimed BBC series is now coming to PC and consoles near you! Since this game is based on the crime drama series of the same name, you can expect to meet familiar faces. Of course, it will be led by Tommy Shelby, the leader of the gang and the mastermind himself. To accomplish his plans, he is joined by his family and close associates. Among of them are:

  • His ruthless brothers and trusted associates, Arthur and John Shelby.
  • Their wise and cunning aunt, Polly Shelby Gray.
  • Deceitful distractor and helpful assistant, Ada Shelby (Tommy’s only sister).
  • The young but skilled pickpocket, Finn Shelby (another one of Tommy’s brothers).

Together, the characters use their strengths and abilities to solve and execute dangerous schemes. This includes robberies, cover-ups, prison breaks, and many more.

What To Expect?

Just like in the show, the game is set in post-war Small Heath, Birmingham. The place is a gloomy area where factories and petty criminals thrive. This is the home of the Shelbys, and Tommy was just fresh off the war (after serving as a soldier). Peaky Blinders: Mastermind’s storyline happens before the actual events of the first season of the series.

This makes the game more exciting and unpredictable, because players (whether fans of the show or not) will have a fresh perspective and approach to every challenge. In the game, players would try to stop what appears to be a sinister plot to oust Tommy from the business. From the trailer itself, the game is more like a puzzle-adventure game.

The game’s publisher, Curve Digital, described it as “crafty, credible, and most importantly creative”. To give the original vibes of the show, the creators were in close coordination with Steven Knight, the show’s creator and writer. Close collaboration was done to ensure that the player would feel as if they are a member of the Peaky Blinders already. Even the soundtracks of the game are produced by Feverist, the same band who created the show’s soundtracks during the first season.

How Is Peaky Blinders: Mastermind Played?

Players are now members of the Peaky Blinders  in the game. They take control of the six members of the Shelby family to plan out a jailbreak, robbery, or escape. What players do is to plan, coordinate, and synchronize the actions of each character and try to succeed in a given mission.

Should the original plan fail, players can set and rewind the path and decisions of each character until the desired outcome is reached. Every decision and detail counts, and if you fail to create a cohesive plan, everything will go down. Like the show itself, you have to think and act like Tommy Shelby. In every situation, you must ask yourself – what would Tommy do?

Peaky Blinders: Mastermind will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC as well. Unfortunately, there is still no specific release date for the game. The announcement only says that the game will be released sometime “later in Summer 2020.” This means fans just have to wait until the Summer season is about to end.
