Animal Crossing New Horizons – The Best New Features In The 2.0 Update

Guides News

On November 4, 2021, Nintendo launched the biggest patch for their highly acclaimed social life simulation game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Requiring 3.4 GB of space, the latest update is bursting with contents. With that in mind, we managed to narrow down the best, if not the unique contents included in the recent update.

Pro Camera App

Taking pictures, selfies, groupies, etc. is one of the most common activities in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. With that said, having new features in the PRO Camera App is great news to those who love to capture precious moments in the game. Update 2.0 brings multiple new features for the PRO Camera App like the fisheye lens and new filters like Retro and Surveillance. Now, you can unleash your photography skills by experimenting with the various new features in the app.

Recipes

Update 2.0 brought a ton of improvements into the game. Most are noticeable, while others are minor. Depending on how you see it, the minor improvements in the game can make a relevant improvement on your gameplay. One example of a minor improvement that makes playing Animal Crossing a little bit better is the improvement in recipes. Unlike before, you can now keep your DIY Recipes in Storage. The best part is that you can now tell if a specific recipe is DIY or Food before even opening the bottle. A minor but very convenient improvement indeed.

Permanent Ladders, Bridges, & Inclines

Ladders, bridges, and inclines are some of the most important structures in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This is why the new features for the aforementioned structures are a more than welcome addition to the game. First off, players can now install permanent ladders on the island which can be customized using the wooden ladder set-up kit DIY Recipe. The addition of permanent ladders makes every peak or cliff on the island more accessible for exploration.

The latest update also increases the number of bridges and inclines that can be built on the island by 2. This means that you can now install 10 bridges and 10 inclines on your island. Like permanent ladders, this improvement will make your island navigation fun and convenient.

Cha-Ching!

Another notable feature in update 2.0 is the ABD or Automatic Bell Dispenser. The ADB is more like your personal ATM where you can deposit and withdraw your precious bells on a whim. This means that you need not go to a Nook Shop to gain access to your bells. Purchasing the ADB requires a fully upgraded house and paid off loans. Once you have accomplished both, you will receive a message telling you about the ADB which is redeemable for 9,900 Nook Miles. Cool, right? So, start maximizing your earned bells every day to gain access to this cool feature.

Ordinance Enactment

Update 2.0 brings back a classic feature in the series which is the ordinance enactment. This was first seen in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. For those new to this feature, Island Ordinances allows you to customize the schedule of your island to match your play style. There are four types of ordinances available in the game. The first one called Early Bird Ordinance adjusts the schedule of the island to make the villagers go to bed early and wake up early. This ordinance is perfect for kids who need to sleep early and wake up early.

Opposite to the Early Bird Ordinance is the Night Owl. As the name of the ordinance suggests, the Night Owl makes the island inhabitants awake during the wee hours of the evening. Choosing this ordinance means that the islanders will open their doors for trading and other activities at night.

Implementing the Beautiful Island Ordinance will trigger villagers to perform activities focused on the beautification of the island. With this ordinance in effect, villagers will water the flowers more often, cockroaches will not appear in your house, more hybrid flowers will spawn, etc. This ordinance is perfect for players who do not have the time to visit the island every day.

Last but not least is the Bell Bloom Ordinance that increases the value of items bought and sold. This ordinance is designed specifically to stimulate the economy of the island and allow the player to earn more bells. This ordinance is best for those who are banking bells in the game. Each of the aforementioned ordnance costs 20,000 bells to implement so you better choose wisely before activating any ordinance.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is hands down, one of the best games on the Switch. Now that you have an idea of some of the notable improvements in the game, it’s now time to go back to your island and try out these improvements.
