Blizzard capped the year 2020 off by selling millions of game copies in 24 hours. World of Warcraft: Shadowlands sold over 3.7 million copies around the world. The 8th expansion of one of the largest and oldest MMORPGs to hit the world gaming community. The numbers skyrocketed within 24 hours of its release. Blizzard’s first made the record during the Diablo III release. They sold 3.5 million copies during that time. The anticipation is to be expected as Shadowlands offers new features and maps that can attract even the newest players.
Breach The Realm of Shadowlands
The story of Shadowlands kicks off when Sylvanas Windrunner opened the thin veil between life and death. The brave warriors of Azeroth were sucked into the void. And an ancient threat seeks to break its imprisonment. Your task as one of the heroes of Azeroth is to traverse the realm beyond. You are granted the power to traverse the thin veil between the living and the dead. Your journey will take you to a new world between worlds with new zones you can travel in.
The player hub in the Shadowland expansion is Oribos, the eternal city. Within its walls is the Arbiter, who judges the dead who pass through the city. You can meet strangers or form a party with your friends in this bustling new city of the dead. The new expansion also offers five new zones ripe for exploring. The list is as follows:
- Bastion – The kingdom where those who lived in righteous duty reside.
- Ardenweald – A glowing forest whose residents are the departed souls connected to the wild.
- Maldraxxus – The war-torn lands where the mightiest warriors rule. It is also the birthplace of necromancy.
- Revendreth – The dark prison for wretched souls. It is where the harvesters of sin dwell and where evildoers may find penance.
- The Maw – The dark hole where the vilest souls may suffer imprisonment for eternity. It is where an ancient evil is imprisoned– one capable of consuming reality.
Players who bought Shadowlands can unravel the mysteries behind the cosmos and treat themselves to a more immersive story. They can dive deeper into the Warcraft lore while playing all of the unique and engaging gameplay features it offers.
Beyond The Veil of Life & Death
Within selected zones are new covenants players can join into. Each faction has its exclusive perks, rewards, and backstory. Champions can choose to join the Kyrian in Bastion, the Night Fae in Ardenweald, the Venthyr in Revendreth, and the Necrolord of Maldraxxus. The leveling system also gained an improvement in the new expansion. New players can expect to level up faster so they can join the Shadowlands story sooner. All expansion zones will scale to the player’s level which adds more exploration options. New heroes can enter the Shadowlands expansion at level 50.
Additionally, Shadowlands also include a new infinite dungeon called Torghast. You can enter the dungeon alone or with a party. The catch is that every time you enter the tower, the map changes. The developers also offered new character customization options allowing players to add more uniqueness to their heroes. Blizzard encourages gamers to tell the story of their champions through customization. They even offered sample looks and how you can make them on their official website.
