The Game Awards 2022 already wrapped up and some of the biggest games racked up tons of awards. One of The Game Awards 2022 Winners include Elden Ring, which took home the biggest award of the night, bagging the Game of the Year Award. But that’s not all they bagged. One of its biggest rivals, God of War Ragnarök didn’t do too shabby as well, taking home several awards to boot.
But they’re not the only winners of the night. Game Awards 2022 had plenty of categories to award and in each award, there are several nominees. Let’s look at the winners for each category, as well as the nominees that they’ve beaten for it.

Elden Ring – Game of the Year / Best Game Direction / Best Art Direction / Best RPG
The biggest award of the night is Game of the year and it goes to Elden Ring. The action role-playing game had tough competition to beat for the award, which includes God of War Ragnarök. Other nominees are Stray, A Plaque Tale: Requiem, Horizon Forbidden West, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Another award that Elden Ring took is the Best Game Direction award. And it’s another award that God of War Ragnarök, Stray, and Horizon Forbidden West lost to them. The other nominee for the award is the indie adventure game Immortality.
The third award of the night for Elden Ring is Best Art Direction. The ARPG once again bested God of War Ragnarök, Stray, and Horizon Forbidden West. The other nominee for the award is the survival game Scorn.
Another one of the best games of 2022, Elden Ring takes home another award, becoming the Best RPG. It beats out other great nominees like Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Live A Live, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and Triangle Strategy.
God of War Ragnarök – Best Narrative / Best Score & Music (Bear McCreary) / Best Audio Design / Innovation In Accessibility / Best Performance (Christopher Judge as Kratos) / Best Action/Adventure
This time it’s God of War Ragnarök with the last laugh, winning the Best Narrative award. They’ve beaten Elden Ring, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Immortality, and Horizon Forbidden West.
The game with the Best Music and Score is also God of War Ragnarök with its composer, Bear McCreary. The composer also happens to play the role of Ræb in the game. Other nominees include Elden Ring / Tsukasa Saitoh, A Plaque Tale: Requiem / Olivier Deriviere, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 / Yasunori Mitsuda, and Metal: Hellsinger / Two Feathers.
The second award for God of War Ragnarök is Best Audio Design. They beat games like Elden Ring, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Gran Turismo 7, and Horizon Forbidden West.
The game that’s considered to be the top when it comes to accessibility is God of War Ragnarök. The game took home the Innovation In Accessibility award, beating out The Quarry, As Dusk Falls, The Last of Us Part 1, Returnal, and Return to Monkey Island.
God of War Ragnarök may not have won the Game of the Year award, but it does have the most award in Game Awards 2022. Joining its handful of awards won is the Best Performance award where Christopher Judge (Kratos voice) took home the bag. He beats out Sunny Suljic (Atreus) / God of War Ragnarök, Ashly Birch (Aloy) / Horizon Forbidden West, Charlotte McBurney (Amicia de Rune) / A Plaque Tale: Requiem, and Manon Gage (Marissa Marcel) / Immortality.
Proving to be one of the best games of 2022, God of War Ragnarök takes home its sixth award, the Best Action/Adventure award. It shows that the game is more than just action, but also awesome adventure gameplay with a bit of puzzle solving. It beats out A Plague Tale: Requiem, Horizon Forbidden West, TUNIC, and Stray.
Final Fantasy 14 Online – Best Ongoing Game / Best Community Support
As for the Best Ongoing Game, the winner is Final Fantasy 14 Online. It beat out other great games like Apex Legends, Destiny 2, Genshin Impact, and Fortnite.
When it comes to providing community support, no one’s better than Final Fantasy 14 Online. It is deserving to win the Best Community Support award. It beats out other fun games that also have good community support like Fortnite, No Man Sky, Destiny 2, and Apex Legends.
Stray – Best Indie Game / Best Debut Indie Game
Stray may not have won Game of the Year, but it did with the Best Indie Game. It won the award over awesome indie games like Cult of the Lamb, Sifu, TUNIC, and Neon White.
Another award for Stray is the Best Debut Indie Game award. It edges out awesome indie games that also debuted this year like TUNIC, Vampire Survivors, NORCO, and Neon White.
As Dusk Falls – Games for Impact
The game who won the Games for Impact award is considered the most thought-provoking and has a pro-social meaning or message is the narrative adventure game As Dusk Falls. It edges out other thought-provoking games like Hindsight, A Memoire Blue, Citizen Sleeper, I Was A Teenage Exocolonist, and Endling – Extinction is Forever.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Most Anticipated Game
When it comes to the Most Anticipated Game award, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom takes home the bag. It’s an award for the game that many believed illustrated the potential to push the gaming medium forward. The other nominees for the award are Final Fantasy 16, Starfield, Resident Evil 4, and Hogwarts Legacy.
Marvel Snap – Best Mobile Game
The Best Mobile Game for 2022 is the collectible card battle game Marvel Snap. It beats other great mobile games like Genshin Impact, Apex Legends Mobile, Diablo Immortal, and Tower of Fantasy.
Moss: Book II – Best VR/AR Game
For the Best VR/AR Game that provides an exceptional gaming experience in virtual or augmented reality, you have Moss: Book II. The action-adventure puzzle game provides a great experience for players when they play it in VR or AR. The nominees they defeated are After the Fall, Red Matter 2, Among Us VR, and BONELAB.
Bayonetta 3 – Best Action Game
The Best Action Game that provides the finest action, primarily when it comes to combat, is Bayonetta 3. The action-adventure game provides the best gaming action, beating out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Neon, White, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, and Sifu.
MultiVersus – Best Fighting Game
MultiVersus shows that it stands atop the fighting game genre. It edges out DNF Duel, Sifu, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R, and The King of Fighters 15 for the Best Fighting Game award.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Best Family Game
The Best Family Game available that’s suited for family play is Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It edges out other good family games like LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Splatoon 3, and Nintendo Switch Sports.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope – Best SIM/Strategy Game
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope may not have won the best family game, but it won the Best SIM/Strategy Game award. It beats out Dune: Spice Wars, Victoria 3, Two Point Campus, and Total War: Warhammer 3.
Gran Turismo 7 – Best Sports/Racing Game
When it comes to sports or racing games, there’s no one better than Gran Turismo 7 who won the Best Sports/Racing Game award. The racing game beat out sports games like NBA 2K23, OlliOlli World, and FIFA 23. It also edges out F1 22, which is another racing game.
Splatoon 3 – Best Multiplayer Game
Splatoon 3 is another family game that also took home another award. This time winning the Best Multiplayer Game award. It defeats other nominees like Overwatch 2, MultiVersus, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Content creator Ludwig is your winner of the Content Creator of the Year award. He beats out other creators like Nobru, Karl Jacobs, QTCinderella, and Nibellion.
Arcane: League of Legends – Best Adaptation
Games Award 2022 also recognizes the adaptation of popular games into TV, movies, and other entertainment projects. The Best Adaptation award goes to Arcane: League of Legends. It beats out nominees like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Uncharted, and The Cuphead Show.
Valorant – Best Esports Game
Valorant won the Best Esports Game awards. Therefore, making it the best video game available that’s used for esports. It edges out League of Legends, Rocket League, DOTA 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Jacob “Yay” Whiteaker (Cloud 9, Valorant) – Best Esports Athlete
As for the Best Esports Athlete award, it goes to Cloud 9 member Jacob “Yay” Whiteaker, who also plays Valorant. He defeats Finn “karrigan” Andersen (FaZe Clan, CS:GO), Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon (Gen. G, LOL), Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostylliev (Natus Vincere, CS:GO), and Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok (Gen.G, LOL).
LOUD (Valorant) – Best Esports Team
And for the Best Esports Team of 2022, the award goes to LOUD, which competes in Valorant tournaments. The other nominees are LA Thieves who compete in Call of Duty, DarkZero Esports, who play Apex Legends, Gen.G who are League of Legends players, and FaZe Clan who plays CS:GO.

For the Best Esports Coach available, you have Matheus “bzka” Tarasconi who coaches LOUD in Valorant. He edges out Go “Score” Dong-bin who coaches Gen.G in LOL, Andrii “B1ad3” who coaches Natus Vincere in CS:GO, Erik “d00mbr0s” Sandgren who coaches FPX in Valorant, and Robert “Robban” Dahlstrom who coaches the FaZe Clan in CS:GO.
